B.C. Rich is one of the few guitar companies that can offer several different guitar top profiles. Each is distinctive and uniquely designed to accentuate the body shape diversity. In 2007 B.C. Rich will offer four different guitar top profiles on selected models throughout the line. Although each top style is visually very different, B.C. Rich has designed each to give the player maximum comfort. The four types of tops found on 2007 B.C. Rich production models are: Beveled, Flat top, Plateau Arch and Deep Arch.

Flat Top

The flat top styling gives a bold and pristine look to the edge of the instrument's shape. Usually when the flat top feature is used, B.C. Rich adds a stripe of single or multi-ply binding around the edge in a complementary color. The binding on a flat top finishes off the edge cleanly and gives a sleek and clean look to the instrument.

Beveled Top

Most of B.C. Rich body styles employ a beveled edge around the shape. In many ways bevels on a top are similar to facets on a cut stone. They catch the light and reflect at different angles giving the instrument more of a three dimensional look. Some of the B.C. Rich top bevels are extreme and wide while others are subtle and narrow. Occasionally the shape of the instrument is accented by painting the bevels a contrasting color.

Deep Arched Top

The deep arch is achieved by increasing the body center by approximately 5/8" and then gently sloping the arch toward the side of the instrument and leveling out just as the slope reaches the edge. A deep arch top when applied to a B.C. Rich shape gives an air of elegance and sophistication. Many of the B.C. Rich Handcrafted instruments are requested with a deep arch top style. This year B.C. Rich is offering more deep arch tops in their production models in a variety of shapes and colors.

Plateau Arched Top

Another recent style of top option for B.C. Rich is the Plateau arched top. Although not utilized as much as the other top styles, it gives a very unique look and can be readily recognized. The Plateau top style is equally indented approximately 1/2" around the perimeter of the shape, but still gives the instrument an edge for applying binding. Overall the top of the instrument where the pickup, bridge and control area is remains flat - thus the Plateau. A plateau arch top gives any B.C. Rich shape a different perspective and is just another way that B.C. Rich offers variety and selection to consumers.
